What is Sensory Processing?

Sensory processing is a naturally occuring neurological function involving receiving, processing, and repsonding to sensory information.  We receive sensory information from our environment and also from within our bodies.  This information helps us to navigate safefy through our world.  When there is a disruption in this process, difficulties are seen with regard to learning, peer interactions, physical mobility, self regulation, self esteem and many other areas of growth and development.  Please refer to our Resources page for specific literature that will help you understand sensory processing
in more detail.
